What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others

Dr. Harris earned his PhD in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (a top-five program) and went on to do research both in the United States and in Italy on wireless communications protocols. Dr. Harris is still active in the research community, most recently designing new Internet-of-Things-enabled devices and protocols. This experience led him to work at a top international law firm as a research scientist assisting patent attorneys understand the technology they were litigating.

Realizing that his experience in computer science would allow him to be an effective attorney, while working at the law firm, Dr. Harris began attending law school. As an attorney, Dr. Harris has a wide array of experience across numerous types of cases. He has had the opportunity to represent very large clients in complex patent litigation as well as smaller clients obtain intellectual property protection in the form of patent, copyright, and trademark work.

Not being satisfied representing on corporate clients, Dr. Harris also began representing individuals in a wide array of matters including family law matters, criminal matters, and injury-related matters. Focusing on helping people through tough times in their lives brings Dr. Harris joy.

In addition to his work as an attorney, Dr. Harris has four kids and enjoys chasing them around, helping with homework, and watching the older boys dive on a kids team run by the University of Kansas diving coach. Dr. Harris also teaches self defense four days a week at a private jujitsu school. Dr. Harris has taught in the philosophy department at the University of Missouri at Kansas City as an adjunct, teaching classes in the Philosophy of Time and in Cognitive Science.
