Child Support

Child support based on standard earnings or precisely tuned to the other party's earnings over the recent past.

Child Support in Texas is based on a percentage of the payor's monthly income. However, child support encompasses more than just income from a job and includes bonuses, perks, rental income, and many other sources. Additionally, it is also a question of net monthly income, not gross that must be determined, so a careful evaluation of all the pay deductions for each month must occur.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others

Jason Partney graduated with honors from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications. He has been working in the legal field since 2003, when he started with a small office in Lubbock Texas as a legal assistant. He warmed to the practice of law during this time and made the decision to attend law school. Mr. Partney graduated with his Juris Doctorate from Texas Wesleyan School of Law in Fort Worth, Texas and received the Order of the Barristers for his outstanding trial work in Mock Trial competitions and Moot Court.

Jason Partney has been in Austin Texas since 2009 and covers primarily Travis, Williamson, Hays, and Bastrop Counties.

Prior to Law School

Jason Partney grew up in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating with honors from Texas Tech University, he went to work for a seasoned attorney in Lubbock. While there he gained valuable hands-on training and insight into all manner of cases, including divorce, child support, custody, criminal law, estate planning, and personal injury cases. During this time Mr. Partney recognized his calling to the legal profession through his desire to help people navigate the legal system during difficult periods of their lives.

Law School

Mr. Partney chose to attend law school at Texas Wesleyan School of Law in Fort Worth due to its real-world approach to legal education. While attending Texas Wesleyan, Mr. Partney was awarded the prestigious Order of Barristers for excellence in oral advocacy by virtue of his participation in Mock Trial competition teams and Moot Court.

Beginning His Practice

Mr. Partney began his career in Dallas, Texas, as a case director for the Innocence Project of Texas (IPOT). IPOT is a non-profit organization committed to freeing wrongly convicted individuals. In 2009, Mr. Partney was directly responsible for attaining a full pardon from the Governor of Texas for James Woodard. Unfortunately, due to health conditions Mr. Woodard developed during his 27 years in prison for a crime he did not commit, Mr. Woodard passed away in 2012. It is at least a small comfort that Mr. Woodard was able to spend his remaining years not locked away in prison but with family and friends before his passing. Jason Partney was involved with the exoneration of Johnny Pinchback, who served over 26 years in prison before being exonerated through DNA testing and Jason's collaborative efforts with the Innocence Project of Texas. Over his career, Mr. Partney has worked in the areas of criminal defense, family law, real estate, personal injury, insurance defense, and small-estate planning.
