I grew up in Louisville, KY. I put myself through college and graduate school at the University of Kentucky. Later, I completed the Six Six Sigma Green and Lean programs at Villanova University. I worked as a special education teacher, prosecutor, turn-around executive and consultant before I went into private practice.
I play an active role on the Louisville Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Board. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that causes mucus to be thicker than normal. The thicker mucus causes issues in the pancreas, lungs and digestive tract. However, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made great strides so those with the condition can live longer, healthier and more active lives. Consider the following:
In 1955, life expectancy for people with CF is 5 years old.
In 1981, life expectancy for people with CF is 21 years old.
In 1985, life expectancy for people with CF is 25 years old.
In 2004, life expectancy for people with CF is 35 years old.
