Law Office of L. Barry Gubin
Meeting the Legal Needs of Greater St. Louis, including your Bankruptcy and Foreclosure needs
I established my own law practice in 1988. I am a solo practitioner, so my clients deal with me. My goal is to provide personal service to each and every client.
With over 30 years of experience, I have practiced 23 years in the area of consumer bankruptcy law. I'm personally involved with every client. I offer one-on-one attention to each client, and all of my clients work directly with me; not a legal assistant or paralegal. I am honored to be approved as a debt relief agent by federal law. I proudly help people file for relief under bankruptcy as a licensed attorney in Missouri.
⢠A family fell behind on mortgage payments and wanted to save the family home. I was able to draft and file a workable Chapter 13 repayment plan which allowed them to catch up on missed payments and keep their home.
⢠A single mother lost her job and was being bothered by debt collectors. I filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy which stopped the constant telephone calls and gave her a fresh start for her financial future.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?
I found that I can use my training and experience to assist people who are in need of help.
What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
It is important for clients to learn about bankruptcy. I provide numerous reading materials for my clients. I make sure my clients are informed about bankruptcy throughout their bankruptcy proceeding. I am available for my clients to address any concerns or questions, so that the more my clients know the more valuable my advice can be.
Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?
Input from clients is valuable when working on their cases. After I am employed by the client I am willing to review documents.
Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
Many times clients are able to do some work on their own. Most of my clients understand that they need an experienced person to negotiate with their creditors and guide them through the bankruptcy process.
Prior to opening my own law practice, I was a hospital administrator, investment banker and held various blue collar jobs. I was a medic and administrative specialist in the U.S. Army.
No matter how many cases which I have handled in the last 30 years I'm aware that each case is unique to the client and requires my personal attention. My training and experience has allowed me the opportunity to gain valuable courtroom experience in an important way.
I am personally involved with every client's case. When people come to my office, they meet with me. I consult with them, I advise them, I speak with them over the phone, and I represent them at their court appearances.
I have a variety of interests some of which entail teaching and community service.
