Helen Marsh is an attorney with over thirty years of experience in commercial and consumer litigation. She has handled a wide variety of matters in litigation, arbitration and mediation. After having practiced in Denver and San Francisco, she moved her practice to Sonoma in 2009. She is a long time resident of the Sonoma Valley, and has served since 2004 as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Sonoma Valley Unified School District.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I have always had a passion for helping individuals and small companies. After years of practice in larger firms, I finally realized my dream of owning my own firm serving Sonoma and Marin Counties.

What experience or education distinguishes your lawyers from others

I realize that many of my clients need more than legal advice. Rather, they need to understand the law as it applies in very practical ways to the situations they face. I try to provide cost effective solutions that are designed to maximize the potential for clients to achieve their goals in resolving legal disputes.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

I am a great listener and approach each client with the intent of first understanding the situation and the client's objectives before discussing specific legal principles that may relate to the problem. Many times, people hire lawyers without knowing exactly what services they need, but wanting only to hear options. My goal in my one hour free consultation is to provide prospective clients with information sufficient for them to identify next steps, regardless of whether they need to hire a lawyer immediately or not.

Helen Marsh

Helen grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota and attended college at Hamline University, where her father was a history professor. She headed to California to attend law school at the University of California, Berkeley, where she was co-chair of the Moot Court Board.

After graduation, she practiced law in Denver for a number of years before returning to the Bay Area and settling in Sonoma to raise her family. She worked in San Francisco with two top tier law firms and relocated her practice to Sonoma in 2009.

Helen has focused on litigation since graduating from law school. She has practiced in state and federal courts in California, Colorado and around the country. She is a frequent presenter at conferences for lawyers regarding a variety of topics. She provides top quality legal services to individuals and businesses in the Sonoma Valley.
