What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
Our attorneys believe in educating our clients about the law and the legal process. Our clients understand their available options under the law, and stay informed during the entire process. Our goal is to not only find the best solution that fits the client’s needs, but to prepare the client to avoid future problems.
Are your attorneys willing to review documents prepared by clients?
Yes, sometimes.
Are your attorneys willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
There are very few circumstances where we would recommend going to court without legal counsel.
Are your attorneys willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?
Yes, sometimes.
What are your policies about dividing work among the firm's partners, associates, and paralegals to make the process most cost-effective for the client?
We are constantly working to keep our clients' fees and costs as low as possible. We use technology and leading legal online resources to deliver cost effective and highly efficient services to our clients. More than one attorney often works on our clients' cases.
How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?
We encourage our clients to participate in mediation or arbitration where appropriate. We have found that our clients appreciate the opportunity to be heard without having a formal trial.
Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?
Yes. Our attorneys are active in the Northern Kentucky Volunteer Lawyers Program and regularly participate in Legal Aid of the Bluegrass' TEAM HOUSE program, which provides pro bono services in landlord/tenant cases. Our attorneys also represent indigent clients as conflict counsel the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy
What distinguishes your law firm from others?
We are not your average law firm. We specialize in giving your case the personal attention it deserves. Unlike some firms, you will know who your attorney is and your attorney will be involved in every aspect of your case. Our attorneys make themselves available to personally speak or meet whenever needed. Our attorneys promptly return phone calls.

Fixed-Price Services and Fees
We offer our clients different options to find the right fee arrangement for their specific matter. We charge a contingency fee in most injury cases. A contingency fee means that the attorney fee is contingent, or depends on, a successful outcome or a recovery. We offer a fixed rate in most criminal cases that depends on the progress and complexity of the case.
Hourly Rates
Although we do not charge an hourly rate in most cases, there are some cases where an hourly rate works best for the client. Our hourly rates differ between attorneys according to experience.
Free Initial Consultation?
We offer a free consultation in all cases. There is no charge for the initial obligation-free meeting. Generally these are meetings are limited to thirty minutes and are not provided over the phone.
Typical Retainer
Unless the total estimated attorney fee is less than $500, we typically require at least a $500 retainer for most criminal and family cases. We do not require a retainer for personal injury cases because we operate on a contingency fee.
All attorney fees do not include costs and expenses. We typically advance case costs in most personal injury cases where operating on a contingency fee.
Nolo's Licensing Check
Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the state agency that licenses lawyers upon joining the directory.
Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any state licensing agency.
