The Williamson Law Firm focuses exclusively on personal injury and accident law: assisting those individuals injured by another party's negligence and families of people killed by negligence. We seek to provide the highest level of personal attention, compassion, and service to our clients and obtain for them a fair and just resolution.

Firm History

I began practicing personal injury law in 1997 defending insurance companies. In 2007, I transitioned my practice to a partnership where I represented injured people and the families of people killed by negligent conduct. In 2010, I opened my own firm to continue representing those injured and killed by negligence.

Activities and Awards

Speaker, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association Auto Torts Seminar, July 2011; annual speaker/presenter for Swim Atlanta regarding swimming pool liability issues since 2005.

Example Cases

Example case #1: Older client was chased by a neighbors' threatening and potentially vicious dog on his property, causing him to fall and sustain severe shoulder and head injuries with permanent impairment. After a thorough investigation and discovery process, the neighbors' property insurer and client agreed to a six-figure settlement.

Example case #2: A client was involved and injured in a car wreck. Immediately after, the negligent driver threatened the client, threw her cell phone in the woods, and ran from the scene of the wreck. The driver's insurance company and the client agreed to a six-figure settlement.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

The firm encourages this.

Are your attorneys willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?

What are your policies about dividing work among the firm's partners, associates, and paralegals to make the process most cost-effective for the client?

As the attorney, I make any and all legal judgments, write any and all unique legal documents and filings and draft my own correspondence. I feel it’s extremely important not to outsource this kind of work to a paralegal. Each case is different, requires different strategies and legal research, and my individualized attention. This attention is highly critical in personal injury cases, and as these cases are typically on a contingency basis, does not cost the client “extra.”

How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?

This firm uses mediation on a case-by-case basis. When appropriate, mediation is an excellent and cost-effective way to resolve cases successfully for clients. Clients are fully consulted and informed of my opinion regarding whether mediation is a viable option for their case.

Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?

Having lived in metro Atlanta for over 30 years, I have found multiple community organizations in which to participate. I have held various leadership positions in community organizations.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

I provide more personal attention to clients than most attorneys, I am more accessible to clients than other personal injury attorneys, and I have a better sense of our opponents’ strategies given my ten years in insurance defense.

Office Hours

8:00 a.m. — 6:30 p.m. Monday — Friday. Weekends by appointment. I can be available for after-hours calls, and I am always available via email after hours. My firm and office manager is Amy Williamson, an inactive personal injury attorney who tends to the day-to-day matters of the firm, marketing, and client needs. My paralegal and assistant is Becky Busch who has worked with me for almost ten years.

My work is not billed on an hourly rate basis.

Always and at no cost to the prospective client. We can discuss your case over the phone or schedule a meeting to go over your case and the facts comprehensively. I do not pressure potential clients to sign a contract with me; rather I give them all the information and tools they need to make a decision on legal representation.

No retainer as most of my work is done on a contingency basis.

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the state agency that licenses lawyers upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any state licensing agency.
