Chapter 13 Bankruptcy cases with second mortgage strips. We also take on Chapter 7 bankruptcy matters where a Debtor is seeking a discharge of all of their credit card debt.
What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
Starting in 2009, the Partners, Attorney Michael Goldstein and Jill Phillips started a weekly radio show called the Consumer Debt Radio Show in the Boston area. The Consumer Debt Radio was a program designed to help the consumer become educated about the issues and concerns surrounding consumer debts and providing solutions to deal with those issues and concerns. As such, we believe as a firm that an educated client is an empowered client.
Are your attorneys willing to review documents prepared by clients?
It depends upon the situation and what specific type of documents is being reviewed and for what purpose.
Are your attorneys willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
Not generally.
Are your attorneys willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?
It depends on the complexity of the matter, but generally we will enter into a limited representation if it is in the client's best interest.
What are your policies about dividing work among the firm's partners, associates, and paralegals to make the process most cost-effective for the client?
Our firm always believes in providing the best possible customer experience and having the proper people handing the tasks that they are best suited for. If there is a simple task that a paralegal or associate attorney can perform and it will reduce the fee, our firm will assign those tasks to those employees.
How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?
In bankruptcy related matters, alternative dispute resolution is not typical. However, in the event that a matter is litigated, we generally favor the use of mediation to bring the two sides together in order to resolve the case to a mutual benefit.
Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?
Yes, we do participate in the community, by putting on workshops and appearing on radio shows to help educate consumers.
What distinguishes your law firm from others?
We take pride in making your experience with The Phillips Law Offices, LLC about you. Our firm is structured to help educate consumers and corporate clients about their options when faced with financial hardship and debt issues. We work as a team with our clients to ensure they are educated about the process the entire way and simply not just a client who shows up in court when ordered to do so.
