Firm Focus
A sex crimes criminal defense law practice dedicated to defending individuals falsely accused of child sexual abuse, molestation, rape, sexual assault, or any other sex crime.
Firm History
Lead attorney Tom Pavlinic began practicing criminal law in 1973. In the early 1990's, he formed Premier Defense Group, which dedicated their entire practice to defending individuals falsely accused of sex crimes.
Example Cases
Most notable cases: Com. v. Delbridge, 885 A.2d 27 (Pa.2003), State v. Plaskett, 27 P.3d 890 (Kan. 2001)
What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
It'd advisable to be familiar with laws as they pertain to your case, but under no circumstances should you make legal decisions without first consulting with a competent sex crimes attorney.
Are your attorneys willing to review documents prepared by clients?
Yes, in fact we routinely request such information from our clients.
Are your attorneys willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
No. Unfortunately this is rarely a good idea.
Are your attorneys willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?
Potentially.
What are your policies about dividing work among the firm's partners, associates, and paralegals to make the process most cost-effective for the client?
Tom Pavlinic is the lead defense attorney who will represent you throughout your case. Additionally, he will select an attorney from the firm to assist him. If none of the firm's attorneys practice in your local jurisdiction, Tom will carefully choose and partner with a top-notch attorney from your local area that has a strong and respected reputation and knows the “ropes” of your local court system. Together, there simply is no better defense team
How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?
Being convicted of a sex crime carries disproportionate penalties, and may haunt you for the rest of your life if you are required to register as a sex offender. In most cases, we only accept pleas if an offer is made that does not include registration. Due to our "trial-attorneys" reputation, we often are offered such pleas.
Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?
Rarely.
What distinguishes your law firm from others?
Our entire practice is devoted to sex crimes defense. Most general-practice attorneys do not have adequate experience in this area to properly defend their clients. We have handled sex crimes cases exclusively for the last 16 years.
