What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I encourage people to educate themselves on the issues affecting their cases so they will be better prepared to ask tough questions of their attorneys.

Are your attorneys willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Yes, subject to the conditions of our fee agreement.

Are your attorneys willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

No.

Are your attorneys willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?

Yes, subject to the conditions of our fee agreement.

What are your policies about dividing work among the firm's partners, associates, and paralegals to make the process most cost-effective for the client?

When my clients come to my firm and hire me, I am the one who meets with them and represents them in court unless a different agreement is specifically negotiated with a given client.

How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?

We do not discourage our clients from participating in mediation services when such services are appropriate. In family law cases, we encourage such participation in about half of the cases.

Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?

I have provided, and continue to provide, pro bono representation to military veterans charged with criminal offenses on a case-by-case basis. I frequently offer reduced rates exclusively in family law matters to clients referred to me by the Women's Center for Advancement in Omaha, Nebraska.
