Firm History
Cathleen Lockhart was a single mother of two and worked as a registered nurse while attending St. Mary’s Law School. Cathleen graduated law school in 1998. The firm was established in 2000. The firm is compassionate about our clients cases and we focus on you and your case not about the “next” case.

Nursing home abuse case in which the patient hung in a bed rail when left alone due to the shortage of staffing. Six figure settlement. What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
Encourage clients to educate themselves regarding our judicial system. We have an open record policy in which the clients file is open to the client at any time. The case belongs to the client not to us.
Are your attorneys willing to review documents prepared by clients?
We encourage clients to actively participate in their case.
Are your attorneys willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
The State Bar of Texas forbids attorneys from encouraging non-lawyers to practice law.
Are your attorneys willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?
The State Bar of Texas forbids attorneys to assist non-attorneys to practice law. However, there are always minor things that a non-lawyer can do and there is assistance at the court house to help non-attorneys.
What are your policies about dividing work among the firm's partners, associates, and paralegals to make the process most cost-effective for the client?
The paralegals always take care of the ministerial tasks to save the client money.
How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?
The local rules mandate mediation before any trial. Arbitration is a contractual agreement that will be upheld at the courthouse.

Cathleen Lockhart was first licensed in 1978 as a registered nurse. Her diverse medical background allows her to analyze medical records for not only what is written, but what is not written. That focus can make the difference in knowing what happened to a loved one while in a medical setting.
