Firm History
L4SB was established in early 2011, after the founder left the corporate world (as a 15-year veteran as COO & Corporate Counsel to high-tech startups) to found a law practice that truly understood the needs of small business.
Example Cases
One client – a small Internet-based business – received a cease and desist notice from a Global 200 corporation. L4SB helped our client analyze the cease and desist, prepare the facts, and issue an appropriate response that saved the business without the need for litigation. Another client was owed thousands by a nonpaying client, and L4SB helped obtain the funds owed, again, without the high cost of litigation.

Are your attorneys willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
L4SB loves to coach and work with its clients, although L4SB is equivalent to “preventative medicine.” Therefore, L4SB focuses on keeping its clients out of court. If litigation is necessary, L4SB is happy to refer its clients to experienced litigators, and oftentimes provides consultative services to help with the case.
Are your attorneys willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?
No job is too small for L4SB, and therefore, L4SB provides whatever level of legal support, advice or assistance is needed by its clients.

L4SB supports any and all opportunities to decrease a client’s legal expenses, especially as it relates to avoiding legal troubles in the future by sound decision-making early and often. Since L4SB is a small firm, its attorneys do all the work – at affordable rates or flat-fee.
How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?
L4SB often advises and participates in mediation and arbitration to resolve business disputes, as our motto is “avoid litigation, since it is expensive and often does not provide the desired strategic results for a business.”

L4SB is involved in many local pro bono activities, and spends a significant amount of time giving back to the community within Albuquerque and New Mexico at large.

Fixed-Price Services and Fees
We offer a flat-rate contract review service of $25/page (minimum 4 pages), which includes 30-minutes of consultation with a business lawyer. If a client mentions they found L4SB through Nolo, we will discount the price by one page (i.e. a $25 discount).
Hourly Rates
For all other matters, L4SB’s hourly rate is $225/hour, which can be capped or offered as a fix-fee for approved matters.
Free Initial Consultation?
L4SB will always will talk to prospective clients without charge. There is no limit to the time, nor a limit to what we will advise on, although we reserve the right to limit the time based on the circumstances.
Typical Retainer
L4SB never charges a retainer, and only invoices at the completion of its work (or just before delivering a contract after a flat-rate contract review).
Nolo's Licensing Check
Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the state agency that licenses lawyers upon joining the directory.
Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any state licensing agency.
