My firm is a general, civil litigation firm, and would be happy to discuss any legal issue you might be having. The firm currently focuses on matters that involve land, real estate, landlord-tenant disputes, and contracts.

The Law Office of Michael J. Makdisi was established in Oakland in 2009.

Activities and Awards

I actively participate in the Earl Warren American Inn of Court and am an active member of both the Alameda County Bar Association ("ACBA") and the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association. I also am currently the Vice Chair of the Barristers Section of the ACBA.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

My firm's point of view is that it is a good idea for a client to stay informed about his or her case and to generally understand the legal issues involved. An attorney, as a counselor at law, can help a client to understand the pertinent legal issues involved in their case.

My firm is open to a variety of methods that will keep costs to a minimum for clients so long as that method does not sacrifice the quality of service that my firm provides.

How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?

As frequently as the use of such alternative dispute resolution methods are in the best interest of the client.

Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?

My firm participates in the community in a variety of ways, including spending time volunteering at a clinic for low income individuals.
