Is your firm willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?

In some cases, we are able to assist a client with one part of a case, without taking on the whole case. Although, it would depend on the nature of the cases and specific circumstances.

What are your policies about dividing work within the firm to make the process most cost-effective for the client?

We routinely divide work between the partners and our staff in an effort to provide the most cost-effective representation for our clients.

Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?

We provide pro bono legal representation in some cases, which is decided at the initial consultation. It is entirely the decision of the partner in charge of the case whether the case will be pro bono.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

We believe that a client should be actively involved in the progress of preparing their case through resolution of the matter. Therefore, we make a genuine effort to ensure that our clients are aware of the current status of their case and we try to involve the client in next step decisions, wherever possible.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

We encourage our clients to educate themselves on the legal issues they are facing, so that they can better understand their options and make informed decisions.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

We are willing to review documents prepared by clients where we believe it will be helpful with handling their case.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

During the initial client consultation, we review the preliminary facts of a client's case to discuss the best option for the client. The initial bankruptcy consultation usually takes at least one hour, where we provide counsel on alternatives and the process involved with both a Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 case. In some cases, it may be prudent for a client to continue without the assistance of an attorney. Although, we generally cannot continue to provide counsel to a client after the consultation, if they decide not to retain us, as it is often not helpful and/or unethical for us to do so.
