Family Law: I have assisted a number of individuals in expeditiously and inexpensively obtaining uncontested divorces where my client's spouse was also seeking an amicable resolution to their divorce with little or no conflict. These types of divorces do take cooperation and understanding from both parties but can be quickly achieved where both parties desire a fair and reasonable result without the necessity for litigation.

Divorce

Our firm concentrates heavily on family law matters and provides clients with assistance in overlapping areas such as residential real estate, estate planning and estate administration as well as social security disability appeals.

We can assist in all areas of family law including but not limited to: child custody and parenting time issues, child support, alimony, issues relating to cohabitation, premarital agreements, modification and/or termination of support, domestic violence matters, post judgment matters, enforcement of family part orders, equitable distribution, step-parent adoptions, name changes, college costs and emancipation.

Is your firm willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?

This type of limited representation can be problematic and we would have to look at each individual matter on a case by case basis to see if this would be something that we can assist the client with.

What are your policies about dividing work within the firm to make the process most cost-effective for the client?

At present Jennifer D. Armstrong, LLC is a solo practice where clients of the firm get the full attention of Ms. Armstrong. Clients will not be shuttled between faceless associates or paralegals that have not met with the client personally and worked on the matter from its inception. Ms. Armstrong works diligently with each client to meet their specific needs.

How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?

Mediation can be an incredibly useful tool in resolving conflict quickly and inexpensively. The vast majority of Divorces settle within a year. Mediation early on can make a huge difference for some individuals who are knowledgeable about their finances and want to participate in an amicable resolution to their case quickly.

Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?

Ms. Armstrong volunteers as an Early Settlement Panelist for the Ocean County Family Part assisting other attorneys and the Court in expeditiously settling divorce matters. Ms. Armstrong is also a member of the New Jersey State Supreme Court's Fee Arbitration Committee.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

What distinguishes my firm from others is that this is a small concentrated practice. I will fight for my clients when necessary. Each client is encouraged to actively participate in their matter and work with the attorney in coming to an amicable and cost effective result. We try hard to minimize each client's potential exposure to a long drawn out and costly litigation and come to a fair and equitable resolution when possible.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

An educated client is in a much better position to make the decisions that are right for them and their set of circumstances. We assist in providing clients with the information necessary to accomplish this.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Often we will ask client's who wish to keep their legal costs down to assist in providing our office with as much information and documentation necessary so as to effectively represent them and meet their goals in an affordable manner.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Unfortunately we cannot provide these services at this time.
