I am focused on providing consumers and small businesses with an attorney who personally cares about them and helps alleviate the stress of considering bankruptcy. My clients appreciate that I answer my own phone and that they meet with me instead of an assistant when they come to the office.

Firm History

I started my law firm in July of 2010. I went to law school intending to open up my own practice because I wanted to be able to focus my efforts on helping people with common problems and for the flexibility in providing those services.

Most of my clients are regular, everyday people who are struggling to make ends meet and need some help getting back on the right track.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I love it when clients come to meetings with a list of questions or research that they have already done. On the other hand, I also think it is important to filter and understand that everything your brother’s roommate’s dog said about bankruptcy may not be true.

Are your attorneys willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am willing to meet with clients to discuss concerns. I generally will not review an entire bankruptcy filing without charging the same as if I prepared it. When you hire a bankruptcy attorney, you are not hiring someone to fill out forms, but to give you legal advice on your situation.

Are your attorneys willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Again, I am willing to meet with clients on an hourly basis to give general direction.

Are your attorneys willing to help a client with one discrete part of a case, without taking on the whole case?

There are rights and responsibilities that are required in bankruptcy court that often limit my ability to offer assistance on just part of a case. In addition, the costs are pretty similar for handling the entire bankruptcy or offering assistance on just part of the case.

What are your policies about dividing work among the firm's partners, associates, and paralegals to make the process most cost-effective for the client?

I am a sole proprietor and handle all of my own cases. My clients appreciate the fact that I know exactly what is going on with their cases and can directly answer any questions that come up.

How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?

Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?

Yes, I have handled cases for Bay Area Legal Aid, Volunteer Legal Services, and the Contra Costa Bar Association.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

Your case is not just a number to me. I provide individual service and many of my clients hire me after speaking with other attorneys who are not as interested in their story. Filing for bankruptcy is a very personal decision and I often find it helpful to just listen to what people have to say before getting down to the details of the bankruptcy filing.

I don't have set office hours. If you need a weekend or evening appointment, I will do my best to accommodate you. I like being able to offer flexibility to my clients to deal with work or childcare schedules.

Standard bankruptcy services have a fixed-price. The exact price will depend on your situation and the complexity of the case, including any expedited preparation that may be needed.

Hourly Rates

I don’t usually bill by the hour, but consultations for general concerns are $250/hour.

Free Initial Consultation?

I do offer free initial consultations for 30 minutes if you are considering bankruptcy. Prior to that meeting, I will send you a list of documents that you need to bring with you in order for me to evaluate your options.

Understanding Fees

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the state agency that licenses lawyers upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any state licensing agency.
