After serving 6 years in the United States Naval Submarine fleet, Jeff obtained his doctorate of jurisprudence from Indiana University in 1995. He immediately went to work defending citizens against the government in criminal defense and civil rights cases. He has tried and won hundreds of cases and helped citizens reach fair results through negotiated settlements in thousands more.

Jeff actively practices in State and Federal Court. He has submitted filings to the United States Supreme Court and received accolades for his legal work before the Indiana Supreme Court and the Indiana Court of Appeals.

In Pendergrass vs. State of Indiana, Jeff presented arguments to the Indiana Supreme Court strengthening citizens rights to confront their accusers at trial. These arguments were later adopted by the United States Supreme Court
