Edward J. Gudeman graduated from the Unversity of Michigan Law School, 1971. He has been a member of the Illinois State Bar and became a member of the State Bar of Michigan in 1973. Mr. Gudeman has practiced in diverse areas of the law with emphasis on taxation, business and estate planning, mergers and acquisitions, rea; estate. securities and bankruptcy law. His expansive background provides him with a unique perspective into the legal issues of both individuals and businesses. For the past several years, Mr. Gudeman has focused his practice on consumer and business bankruptcy. His approach is to assist individuals to obtain Chapter 7 discharges and Chapter 13 plan confirmations by employing a mix of legal knowledge with compassion and understanding of his clients' circumstances. Mr. Gudeman's philosophy about bankruptcy law practice is best summarized by the following quote: "People who are filing for protection under the Bankruptcy Code are probably at the lowest point of their lives. It is my job to assist those people to get done what they are not capable of doing for themselves and get them through what can be a difficult process. My goal is to let people retain the property they can afford to keep or that the laws allow them to keep and to lead them forward to a fresh start."
