Eblen Freed was founded by Tim Eblen and Michelle Freed. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Tim and Michelle have combined experience of over a decade, and are licensed in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Tim and Michelle's practice is rooted in their values in family and local community.

Eblen Freed has represented businesses in negotiating and collecting on debt due, including advising them of applicable state and federal regulations, assessing the validity of disputes raised by the debtor, assessing the likelihood of recovery, and providing options on the most practicable way to address an outstanding account receivable.

Small businesses in debt often have the unenviable task of determining how their business can address debt owed to their creditors while staying viable. Eblen Freed are experienced at negotiating work outs that may allow a business to address its operational needs, while making efforts to address the needs of its creditors. In some cases, a businessâ debt load may be too great to bear, and we will help the business to explore its options in unwinding its operations.

Tim Eblen

In 2002 Tim started working in civil litigation with Landye Bennett Blumstein LLP. While there he gained extensive experience with civil motion practice, court rules, and case valuation. After finishing law school Tim worked in a general practice with Robert Ireland, now Ireland & Ireland, PC. There he managed the firmâs civil litigation cases, while also gaining experience with business transactions, basic estate planning, and family law. In 2006 Tim joined Smith & Greaves LLP to work in their creditor rights and collection litigation practice. He left in 2011 to start his own practice with friend and colleague, Michelle Freed.

After graduating from Willamette University in 1997, Tim worked with Volunteers In Asia teaching English in Vietnam. Tim volunteered at Dalat University, and then taught at the Vietnam-USA Society. Tim returned to Portland in 2001 to attend law school.

Tim was born and raised in the Portland area. His playground growing up was East Multnomah County, Mt. Hood, and the Columbia Gorge.

Tim has two children. He spends his free time enjoying the Northwest outdoors, reading, watching documentaries, playing chess with his son Tommy, and working on âspecial projectsâ with his daughter Lily.

Michelle Freed

Directly after college, Michelle moved to Portland to attend Lewis and Clark Law School. In her second year of school, Michelle interned with the Lewis and Clark Legal Clinic, helping to provide legal services to low income individuals in the community. There she gained experience in Family, Bankruptcy and Landlord Tenant Law. In her third year of law school Michelle clerked at a small local firm, focusing on family law.

After law school, Michelle joined Todd Trierweiler and Associates. There she gained extensive bankruptcy experience, filing hundreds of bankruptcy cases. Michelle has served as the secretary on the Consumer Bankruptcy Sub-Committee of the Debtor-Creditor section of the Oregon State Bar, and volunteered with the pro-bono bankruptcy clinic. Michelle also co-authored a chapter on bankruptcy implications in family law for an Oregon State Bar publication.

Michelle joined Smith and Greaves, LLP in 2007, practicing in the area of creditor rights and litigation. In 2011, Michelle, along with Tim Eblen, opened Eblen Freed LLP.

Michelle was born and raised in Yakima, Washington, and is married with two children. She spends her free time cooking, gardening, and trying to keep up with her two lovely daughters.
