Bankruptcy practice is greatly helped by having knowledge of business and finance as well as legal expertise. We have combined our knowledge to achieve this. The firm specializes in business law and general litigation which led us into bankruptcy as a natural extension of our practice. This takes into account the prior experience of running and starting businesses that were national and international in scope. The firm wants to use this knowledge to help all of our clients and bankruptcy lends itself to the use of this knowledge to help our clients achieve the results they desire
The experience level of being in the real world of running a business in all its complexity seperates us from firms who have lawyers whose only experience is being a lawyer.
When you couple that with the success level and experience of being an attorney it creates a strong combination.
Additionally, with our international experience and comfort with working through various cultural issues among multi-nationals we are afforded the ability of successful mediation and arbitration to reach our clients goals.
We are able to offer big firm knowledge and experience with a smaller firm service and one to one relationship building. We offer a casual and accepting environment, and do not judge our clients, regardless of the life events that bring them to us. We understand many times our clients are in distress and we work hard in reducing their stress and helping them to make the right decisions.
Our number one priority is to communicate the progress on each case and consistently discuss the needs and wants of our clients. We want you to feel totally comfortable about the process, understand exactly how we can help you, and be confident that you are working with the very best people.
We believe this approach will lead to the ultimate desire of our clients which is the successful results they are seeking.
We encourage clients to educate themselves about the issues so we can move forward when they come to us for their legal representation. There are excellent consumer online sources like Nolo, National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA), Cornell and others with reliable and easy to understand information about bankruptcy. We enjoy and encourage the educated client, as long as they let me do the law part and listen to my advice. Really, since bankruptcy is and has to be a close cooperative relationship between attorney and client, the client can help out by understanding what we need to do and why we need to do it. No other area of the law is like this.
We do review client documents of all kinds but in bankruptcy the client has to generate the lists of property and other data. We can't take the risk of giving advice to self-represented people because of the liability that exists for us and the fact that self-represented individuals usually have no idea of the proceedings and needed procedural rules to actually effectuate self-representation effectively.
No and for a variety of reasons that is not something we could consider
We use mediation and collaborative law often.
Arbitration is something that is usually not in the best interest of smaller concerns but when called for we do utilize arbitration as well as represent clients in arbitration.
Certificates are held in mediation, advanced mediation and family law mediation as well as arbitration and advanced dispute resolution and international mediation and arbitration
We are very proud of the pro bono cases taken but are very discerning in the cases we take. Generally, we do not accept pro-bono cases unless they fit our strict criteria.
The best known pro-bono taken was the FLDS case in San Angelo, Texas. This case grew into an international news story and we were a part of the case from the beginning until the end and wrote a brief to the Supreme Court of Texas and Appellate Courts on the winning side of the case.
Eventually we were awarded a certificate from the State for services rendered and part of the costs were paid though the case was initially taken purely pro-bono upon request from the Bar. The case was a true showing of our legal system at its best.
We are always willing and able to handle the case or legal issues of our clients in the manner best suited for their success. Complex cases may require a team of attorneys from various firms to achieve the clients needs. We do this often especially with our international clients who require attorneys in different countries.
