Although he was born in New York City, he moved to Milford when he was 4 years old, and no matter where his life has taken him along the way, he has always come home to Connecticut. Carter now lives in Milford with his wife, daughter, two sons, and his mother.

Carter has built a full-service personal injury law firm with six offices located across the state. When Carter isn't traveling between the offices and appearing in court to represent his clients, he enjoys spending time with his family and being outside competing in a variety of activities. In warm weather, he averages about 1,000 miles on his bicycle each month, coaches his boys in wrestling, goes fishing, and takes his Harley Davidson Fatboy out on the road.

In addition, he has a United States Coast Guard captain's license, he is a former national wrestling champion, and he has a second degree black belt in judo.
