Bemis, Roach & Reed is an Austin personal injury law firm that has been successfully helping people in personal injury matters since 1993. You deserve to be represented by a Texas attorney who is known and respected by insurance companies, the courts and defense attorneys.
Defective premises or attractive nuisances, such as an unlocked swimming pool gate, are also a major cause of personal injuries and deaths. We have also represented numerous dog-bite victims. It seems that drowning cases and dog-bite cases often involve small children. Cases involving children require not only experienced litigation attorneys, but experience in protecting the child from unnecessary involvement in the legal process. For information concerning disability benefits claims, Social Security Disability claims, premises cases, dog bites and the claims of children, please view the menu bar to the left.
Since insurance carriers representing the person at fault have many of the cards stacked in their favor, it is important that you know your rights before dealing with the other partyâs insurance carrier. The litigation attorneys at Bemis, Roach & Reed will be glad to provide you with a free consultation to discuss the issues involved in your personal injury case.
Mr. Bemis has represented clients of all ages and has come to understand the unique problems created by injuries to both the elderly and children. Injured children are a particular concern because of their limited understanding and the need to protect and insulate them as much as possible from the claim or litigation process.
Mr. Bemis' insurance bad faith practice often arises out of personal injury claims that have been wrongfully handled by the insurance carrier. However, many of the insurance bad faith claims handled by Mr. Bemis have arisen out of commercial or homeownerâs insurance claims which were improperly handled by the insurance carrier. Mr. Bemis has represented individuals in bad faith/breach of contract cases against such insurance companies as Allstate, State Farm, Farmers, USAA, Progressive, Geico, CNA, American Casualty, Liberty Mutual and many others.
Mr. Roach began his career practicing personal injury trial law and became Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization the first year he was eligible. In addition to his trial practice, he is the firmâs primary appellate lawyer and has successfully argued cases before the Texas Court of Appeals, the Texas Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit.
It was natural that Mr. Roach's career path would eventually lead him to the field of ERISA law, especially as it applies to long term disability insurance. Disability benefits cases are, by their nature, medical cases. They involve volumes of medical records that require a solid medical background to interpret. These are the skills of a Board Certified Personal Injury lawyer. When these cases go to trial, however, they take on the aspect of appeals. Disabled claimants are appealing the decision of powerful claims administrators. These trials call for the skills of an appellate attorney. Mr. Roach is both and has become a recognized expert in the field of ERISA, Long Term Disability. He has successfully overturned denials of disability benefits at the administrative level, at trial in United States District Court, and at the United States Court of Appeals.
In 1993, Mr. Reed began discussions with his former law school classmate, Lonnie Roach, about starting a personal injury law firm. Given that they each had less than three years of experience, Mr. Reed and Mr. Roach asked Lloyd Bemis if he would be interested in starting a personal injury firm. The firm was founded as Bemis, Roach & Reed in late 1993 and continues with the same members today.
Greg Reed is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Martindale-Hubbell recognizes Mr. Reed as an AV rated attorney, the highest such rating available to any individual lawyer. He was named to the Super Lawyers list in 2011 and 2012.
Mr. Reed is licensed to practice in all Texas state courts. He is admitted to practice in the Northern, Eastern, Western, and Southern Federal United States District Courts in Texas. He is also licensed to practice at the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
At Bemis, Roach & Reed, Mr. Reed has focused his practice on litigation in several different areas. He has successfully tried numerous personal injury cases and general business litigation cases, generally on behalf of plaintiffs. Mr. Reed has also represented individuals who have been injured or are otherwise disabled and are forced to seek Social Security Disability support or support through other disability benefits plans.
