Firm Focus and History

I focus on criminal and DUI defense. I believe an aggressive defense, that includes being willing to go to trial and actively argue pre-trial motions provides the client with the best chance of success. In criminal and DUI cases, I make sure that I have complete knowledge of the facts and the law applicable to your case as soon as possible.

I have been defending people charged with criminal offenses as a solo-practitioner in Northern California for the past five years. I have represented clients in 33 criminal jury trials.

Previous Employment Summary

In 2002, I worked with Joshua Dale as DUI defense attorney. In 2003, I worked with Tim Pori as a criminal defense attorney. Both of these attorneys provided me with great insight in how to defend a client charged with a DUI or other criminal charges.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I think there are many areas of the law where clients can handle simple legal matters on their own and Nolo provides those clients with a great legal resource. I like to educate my clients regarding their legal matters so they understand the process and the law that I'm arguing.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Case by case.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Case by case.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I have always enjoyed helping people. I find the fields of Criminal Defense and DUI Defense give me an opportunity to help protect people from the government and protect their freedom.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I interned for the San Francisco District Attorney's Office for two years and this has given me great insight as to how the prosecution operates. Since that internship my focus has been criminal defense and DUI defense. I find by going to many educational seminars on this area of the law it gives me insight into the many different and unique defenses that are possible and allow me to apply them in the appropriate cases.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I find the area of criminal law endlessly fascinating.

What do you like best about your career?

I enjoy seeing a satisfied client.

Understanding Fees

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the state agency that licenses lawyers upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any state licensing agency.
