Example Cases
A Chapter 7 client had a judgment against them that allowed the credit card company to levy their bank accounts. The credit card company levied their account, but fortunately the bank snoozed and although they could have had the sheriff turn the funds over to them had they acted in time, they didn't. I immediately sent the sheriff a copy of the bankruptcy petition and thus the "Automatic Stay" now prevented the bank from enforcing their judgment. The end result — client's levied funds are returned.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
For clients to make informed decisions they need to be educated on the legal issues. However, clients must be careful how they do their legal research. Internet legal research, which is where most people do their research, can be dangerous unless you know the source is credible and the information is not out of date.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I don’t usually review documents prepared by “clients” because if they are filling out documents they are acting as their own attorney so they are not really my clients.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
No, I don't coach; I see that as a recipe for disaster.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I've always had an interest in the law and feel fortunate I had an opportunity to fulfill my dream. It's very gratifying to help people who feel overwhelmed with life's circumstances.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
As an artist I dealt with the public and this made me very broad minded and compassionate. I’ve had many life experiences and I’ve gone through many of my friends’ life experiences as well. I know life can be good, very, very good, but I also know life can be very difficult and that it’s not necessarily anyone’s fault. It is when life is difficult I give my clients someone to lean on. I let them know, it’s a rough patch but they will make it through.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
I focus my practice on Bankruptcy, Estate Planning and Family Law. These areas of the law affect people in profound ways and it is a privilege to help them put their lives in order.
What do you like best about your career?
It’s all about helping people. The law is complicated and I respect the appreciation people have when I can help them.
Tell us about your law firm:
I am a solo practitioner, my clients deal directly with me.
What are your strengths and style?
I am compassionate, non-judgmental and calm. I recognize that life takes many different twists and turns and no two clients are going to be the same. It is my responsibility to give each client the counsel and respect they need.
Personal Interests:
Of course the law, but also I like gardening, exercising, cooking, getting together with friends, and going to the park and throwing the Frisbee for my dog, Pen.
