Services Offered For Fixed Fees?

The cost of legal service fees in a basic Chapter 7 case starts at $1,200 and includes travel costs. However, if you visit the "Get Started" page on our website, and enter "nolo.com" into the box labeled "Enter Promo Code," the cost of the basic Chapter 7 is reduced to $995.

The cost of legal service fees for a basic Chapter 13 case starts at $3,500, and a Chapter 13 case which includes small business concerns starts at $4,500.

Hourly Rates

I work on a flat fee basis. In special circumstances, I charge $190 an hour.

I wanted to champion the cause of people in dire need of a champion. That is why my practice focuses on the needs of consumers.

What are your policies about dividing work within the firm to make the process most cost-effective for the client?

I am a better lawyer because I've experienced many lifestyles, from being a machinist mate in the U.S. Navy to being a Manager of Business and Legal Affairs for a Cable Television Network. Because of this life experience, I understand people from all walks of life, and this makes me a better communicator.

How frequently does your firm use mediation, arbitration, or collaborative law to resolve cases?

The modern American consumer is under attack by economic forces. No group needs a champion more, and no group is more deserving of a champion. I chose to champion the cause of this deserving group of Americans.

Does your firm provide pro bono legal services or otherwise participate in your community?

Knowing that I make a real and positive difference in the lives of families is what I like most about my career.

What distinguishes your law firm from others?

I am a solo practitioner, so I work individually with all my clients. Because of this, I have a better knowledge of the details of each client's case.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

People who take an active interest in their lives make great clients. The educated client is better able to understand legal complexities, and that makes for better communication between attorney and client.

Todd Whiteley

I started out in Entertainment Law, working first with Morgan Creek Productions, Inc. and then moving to Fox Family Channel as the network's promotional attorney. After Disney bought Fox Family Channel, I moved to the Central Valley and started my own bankruptcy practice in 2008.

My greatest strength is my non-judgmental style. My own life has been a winding path and I know mistakes are only the lessons along life's path.

Because I don't judge, I am able to hear both the facts my clients share with me, and often the concerns they don't express directly.

Personal interests:

I love tennis, books, movies, and the novel I'm writing.
