Firm Focus and History
We deal exclusively with bankruptcy and bankruptcy-related issues. The firm has been helping people with their financial problems for over 35 years.
Previous Employment Summary
I have operated my own practice since I became an attorney .
What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
While I certainly wouldn't recommend representing oneself in the Bankruptcy Court, I do sometimes find it helpful if the client has done a little bit of research and thereby understands what I'm talking about a little more clearly than he or she otherwise would.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I will do that on occasion.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
We are simply too busy with those clients who are paying for our representation to do this.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I was always proud of the work my father did as an attorney, and the appreciation with which it was received by his clients. So, the opportunity to help people in times of need has just always had appeal for me.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
For better (or worse!), I am a perfectionist. I have always been interested in aviation and am a private pilot. In that environment, attention to detail is essential, with procedures, checklists, etc. You never want to get "behind the aircraft." I approach my work in the same manner.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
As mentioned above, the opportunity to help people in times of stress or need has always had appeal for me. Bankruptcy certainly would fit that bill.
What do you like best about your career?
Seeing the relief of my clients when it hits them that they really are not "finished," and that they will be able to start over.
Tell us about your law firm:
We are a small firm, and so we deal personally with each and every client. Our clients tell us that this is in fact what led them to retain us.
What are your strengths and style?
Our strength is, without a doubt, our personal touch. From the very first inquiry, we take the time to really listen to our clients and reach out. We do NOT simply say let's set up an appointment and we can talk then - we often spend quite a bit of time right on the initial telephone call. Our clients repeatedly tell us that this is why they retained us, that we were the only ones who really listened and who really seemed to care about their situation.
Personal Interests:
I am a private pilot so my main passion is flying. I also enjoy skiing, travel, and just relaxing.

Fixed-Price Services and Fees
Bankruptcy fees are generally a flat fee which is determined at our consultation, which is always free. Those fees are based upon the simplicity or complexity of the individual case, as that will determine how much work is involved.
Hourly Rates
As mentioned above, most if not all bankruptcy clients usually pay a flat fee; however, when our work does require an hourly fee, it is generally $300 per hour.
Free Initial Consultation?
Our consultation has always been free, and we have never set any formal time limit on it.
Typical Retainer
As no bankruptcy case is the same, it would depend on the individual case or client.
Nolo's Licensing Check
Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the state agency that licenses lawyers upon joining the directory.
Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any state licensing agency.
