I served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972. I am also a Judge Pro Tem for the Santa Clara County Court.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

It is very important that the client understands the process of the case and the criminal charges that he or she is facing. I always urge my clients to educate themselves.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

The more information I am given, the better prepared I am to handle my client's case. I welcome any document that will help me.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

I will discuss the option with my client depending on their individual situation so we can come up with how I will best be able to help them.

My exclusive dedication to defending those who are facing criminal charges combined with almost 40 years in the field gives me an invaluable edge. I don't just do any type of law - I only handle criminal cases.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

Almost no other area of law has the ability to change a person's life like criminal defense. Whether trying to keep a clean record or stay out of jail, my job makes a difference in the lives of others.

What do you like best about your career?

I love the constantly changing dynamics and how I must constantly adapt my strategy. The challenge of working to always stay ahead of the game and effectively defend my clients makes for an interesting, rewarding experience every day.
