Adams Law Office, LLC was established in 2002 as a solo practice and has purposefully remained so. I take pride in providing individualized service to each client and enjoy the personal contact that a solo practice affords.

Example cases

Many of my bankruptcy cases involve clients who have been impacted by the severe downturn in the real estate market (realtors, mortgage brokers, title companies), an increase in monthly expenses that are out of their control (adjusted rates for subprime mortgages, increased cost of food, gas, and utilities), the loss of a job, or a prolonged illness. Bankruptcy is never a first choice for the clients that I have dealt with, rather it is a much needed way to start over financially. Most clients keep their homes, vehicles, and other assets, while eliminating their crushing debt. Other clients have utilized bankruptcy to get out from under unwise home or vehicle purchases.

My estate planning practice serves small and large estates. For small estates, a Will plan can generally provide the necessary planning to avoid court involvement after death. For mid-size to large estates, trusts can also be used to minimize taxes and to protect assets for future generations.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

I chose bankruptcy as one of my primary areas of practice because I enjoy helping people get a fresh start. I am naturally very organized, detail-oriented, and meticulous, which is essential for effectively preparing, managing, and positively concluding a bankruptcy case.

I chose estate planning as another practice area because I enjoy organizing the lives of my clients and their families. Creating an effective estate plan is very fulfilling because it not only impacts the life of the client positively, but also the future of their family and extended relationships. A thorough estate plan can ensure that my client's wishes will be carried out and that the proper people are identified to assist them if they are incapacitated. A well planned estate can leave a lasting legacy for many generations and is a valuable gift that we can provide our spouse, children, grandchildren, and charitable organizations.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

One of my goals is to fill in the information gaps for clients who have been unable to find the answers to their questions or have tried unsuccessfully to research the legal implications involved in their cases. With the vast amount of resources available online, oftentimes clients are overwhelmed with the information they have found or are unable to sort through what will actually apply to their situation. I offer free initial consultations to hopefully provide those key pieces of information that help clients to decide what route makes the most sense for them.

Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?

This is not currently a part of my practice.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

This is not currently a part of my practice.

Suren G. Adams

My legal experience includes years of personal injury work in two prominent Montgomery County law firms. I have also worked in the General Counsel's office of a major utility in the Washington metropolitan area handling general corporate law and contract matters. In addition, my experience includes working in a "big-four" accounting firm in the areas of general corporate taxation, financial services, state and local taxation, accounting methods, quality and standards, and real estate taxation. For more information, go to http://www.adamslawoffice.net/suren-adams.php.

My Christian beliefs are the biggest part of who I am as a person. Those beliefs cause me to view my clients and their situations as more than just another case, but as an opportunity to caringly exceed expectations through excellent service. In the end, I am not just serving my clients, but also the Lord, and His standards are pretty high.

My strengths are that I am very detail-oriented, organized, meticulous, and experienced. I have a very positive and caring style, which my clients seem to really appreciate. I have had many clients comment that they feel much more relaxed and at ease about the bankruptcy or estate planning process after speaking with me, which simply makes my day.
