I have been actively licensed in Delaware for 28 years, since 1982. I also licensed, but inactive, in DC, Georgia and California.

Firm Focus and History

My law partner, Andrew Rahaim and I started practicing law in the early 80s. In 1993, we decided to start our own law firm to focus on protecting and helping people who had been injured in accidents and at work. Our attorneys and staff are very adept and experienced at dealing with the insurance companies in these cases, so our clients don't have to. We have also handled medical negligence claims. Over time, our clients also expressed the need for help in criminal defense matters, family law, bankruptcy cases and the preparation of simple wills. We have brought other attorneys in to our practice so that we can help in all these areas.

My law firm focuses on helping all people who need legal assistance and protection. We primarily handle all types of injury cases, including automobile accident related matters, slip and falls, and work injuries. We also help with medical negligence matters. We have a family law department that has helped hundreds of clients handle Family Court matters of all types. We also have a Bankruptcy department that handles Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcies. We handle all types of criminal charges, including DUIs. We also prepare simple wills and healthcare directives for our clients.

Previous Employment Summary

I worked for and became a partner in another law firm until leaving in 1993 to start my own firm.

Activities and Awards

I have been BV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell (Very High Legal Ability and Legal Ethics). I have provided pro-bono work for the Delaware Bar Association for elderly and infirm needing wills and healthcare directives. I have served on the Board of Governors of the Delaware Trial Lawyers for three years. I was chosen as one of the top 100 Delaware Trial Lawyers by the American trial Lawyers Association.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I encourage clients to learn as much as they can about general legal principles and procedures. While my firm will take care of all their legal matters, many clients appreciate knowing what issues are being dealt with.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am willing to review any summaries, personal journals or diaries that my clients prepare to gain the best possible understanding of what losses my clients have suffered. There would be no reason for my clients to need to prepare any legal documents, however, we do that for them.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

There are far too many complicated legal issues involved when dealing with insurance companies in serious injury cases to ever advise a client to represent themselves.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I decided to become an attorney at an early age when I realized that lawyers can protect the rights of the average person in disputes with corporations and insurance companies.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

When I was young, I watched my parents help my grandmother with a legal issue involving a corporation trying to take over property that rightly belonged to my grandmother. I literally watched my parents and grandmother stand in the path of a bulldozer to stop construction of a road through my grandmother's backyard until a court hearing could be scheduled. I never forgot the gratitude felt by my family for the lawyer who ultimately helped them prevail in court over the large corporation.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

There is no better way to make a difference in the life and economic circumstances of those in need than to help an injured innocent victim of an accident or work injury recover lost wages, pay medical bills, and recover compensation for permanent injury or pain and suffering.

What do you like best about your career?

I am able to make a beneficial change in the lives and circumstances of many injured people and their families.

Tell us about your law firm:

My firm has six lawyers and five paralegals who, together with the rest of our staff, handle many areas of law that are helpful for those with legal problems or questions. My law partner and I work together on many our large injury cases as do our paralegals and clerks.

What are your strengths and style?

Our lawyers pride themselves on educating and assisting our clients on the aspects of the law that applies to their specific legal problems. In cases involving injuries, I handle all communication with the insurance companies so that my clients don't have to. If a claim can be settled to my clients' satisfaction, I will negotiate the highest possible settlement. If a case can not be settled, then I will litigate the matter thoroughly and aggressively.

Personal Interests:

From a personal level, I am a family man who enjoys spending time with my wife and young daughter. On a professional level, I am focused on being the lawyer who clients want to recommend to their own family members.
