Example Cases

Our office filed approximately 300 cases last year in the various bankruptcy courts in the Northern and Eastern districts allowing our clients to obtain the relief provided by the bankruptcy laws. The cases resulted in millions of dollars of debt being discharged by the courts. Our office files an average of 30 cases each month. We've posted a fraction of the clients' testimonials that were sent to us on our website. They speak to the warm, thorough, professionalism of our team and to the relief experienced by our clients as their cases are discharged. "If it weren't for all of you this would have been awful. It's not easy making this decision. With all your help and support it's been a breeze and peaceful," "We've been raving about your professional service and recommending you to several others who are in the same boat we were. I can't say enough about how great your staff was as well." "I have never experienced such positive assistance and support from a legal office. Scott-you are an amazing attorney. You walked me through my case and calmed my nerves when I went before the judge."

Previous Employment Summary

I have been a partner at Rust, Armenis & Schwartz since 1992. In addition to my bankruptcy experience, I have over 28 years of extensive litigation practice. I have provided advice to corporations, businesses, and individuals during the same period and operated a legal business as a partner for 21 years. I have served on the boards of several insurance/legal associations including the advisory panel for the ABA. I have also handled widespread speaking and legal training presentations at the State and local levels.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

We encourage our clients to educate themselves on legal issues and provide extensive information on our website. We also refer our clients to information located on the American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys websites.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

We review all documentation provided by clients in order to prepare the most accurate and thorough cases possible.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Bankruptcy can be a complicated process, with the possibility of severe financial implications if done incorrectly. There are constantly changing guidelines and rulings both locally and nationally that make it hard for a non-lawyer to be fully aware. For this reason I recommend that clients seek professional help with this process.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I am from a family of lawyers - it is the family business and I enjoy digging into cases and making complicated situations easier by applying my knowledge of the protection afforded by the laws of bankruptcy.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

I have practiced law for 28 years and during that time I have handled extensive litigation, provided advice to corporations and individuals, and operated a legal business as a partner for 21 years. As a result, I have extensive insight into client concerns and effective representation. I have also learned the limitations of legal remedies.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I have gradually gravitated toward bankruptcy because of the direct contact with clients and pleasure of assisting someone who needs help with a solution that is a win win for all. This is rare in most legal practices. I am driven by the satisfaction of helping clients who trust me during what is often the most difficult point in their lives.

What do you like best about your career?

The passion that the issues evoke in the lawyers and their clients.

Tell us about your law firm:

Our firm has an extremely well trained group of case managers that have a wealth of knowledge, passion for the work, and compassion for our clients. We have a large number of client testimonials about our group on our website.

What are your strengths and style?

Problem solving with a sense of humor.

Personal Interests:

I am married with a teenage daughter and most time outside work is spent with my family. Since most of my work time is indoors, I love outdoor sports, cycling, open water swimming, surfing, and climbing.
