Our firm focuses its practice in bankruptcy law. We represent clients in Chapter 7, Chapter 13 and Chapter 11 cases. Our firm has five attorneys that focus 99% of their time on bankruptcy cases. We represent clients throughout Nebraska and Western Iowa.

I started my practice in 1992. Prior to practicing law I worked in the Accounting field. Over the past several years our firm has grown into Nebraska's largest bankruptcy firm with more attorneys representing more clients throughout Nebraska. Our five attorneys work together in a team focused work environment.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?

Bankruptcy became my primary area of law practice over time. My background in accounting and law came together, and I enjoy getting clients back on the right financial track.

What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

I highly recommend that clients educate themselves on the legal issues affecting them. Our firm strongly believes in having educated clients participate in their case strategy and that they be presented with all the facts affecting their case.

We are always willing to review documents prepared by clients.

Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Although we have to be very careful in advising clients who represent themselves, our firm is willing to meet with clients to give them our opinion of their situation.

Sam Turco

I worked for the law firm of Seminary, Caniglia, Turco, McCarthy & Sacoman as a law clerk from 1989 to 1992. I have been self-employed since I left college.

Without a doubt, raising three children has made me a better lawyer. Handling a difficult client is nothing compared to raising my kids! My father was an attorney who raised six kids of his own, and I think I handled my first appeal at age five, except it was called something else. We grew up in a blue-collar neighborhood in Omaha and worked with people of every different background.

I am very quick to analyze a person's financial mess to outline what may be the real solutions and what is not. I am very effective in communicating with clients without lecturing them.

Personal interests:

Coaching my children's sports in grade school, gardening, reading, travel, and general horseplay.
