Firm Focus and History

While all consumer bankruptcy attorneys by law must state, "Our Law Firm is a Debt Relief Agency and We Help People File for Bankruptcy Relief", we are different. We know how creditors think and can use our experience to pursue your non-bankruptcy options.

In 1997, I was the bankruptcy clerk for one of Ohio's largest creditors' rights firm. After graduating law school in 2 1/2 years, I was admitted to the federal courts so I could pursue my passion for bankruptcy.

Our solo practice ensures your case is handled with care by me. I have been primarily focused on bankruptcy work for over 10 years.

Previous Employment Summary

I am proud of my time spent with my previous employers. We continue to work together on occasion and help each other when necessary.

My creditor attorney experience includes working for Kentucky's largest creditors rights firm in their Cincinnati office. I have represented the "Big Three" automakers in courts throughout Ohio and Kentucky.

Activities and Awards

• CLE Lecturer on Bankruptcy, Collections and Ethics
• Hamilton County Ohio Felony Panel Attorney
• 2008- Lead Contract Officer Representative Base Support Battalion-North Kuwait (fighting waste, fraud and abuse for the US taxpayer)
• Commander- Detachment 1 Joint Force Headquarters Ohio National Guard

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Properly informed clients make our job easier and we can sometimes pass the savings (of time) on to them.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

Some attorneys will not review and approve self-prepared documents. I believe there is too much professional liability and it is usually more cost-effective for the client to pay the attorney to ensure the document is done right the first time.

Said another way, you can also do your own dental work, but I would not recommend it! As a real life illustration, I was able to replace the radiator in my 1968 Oldsmobile in the law school parking lot, but I always let the experts replace the brakes.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

There are ethical and professional issues with these practices.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I worked for a real estate developer and law firm and soon realized that I had the God-given talent to earn a law degree. The difference between them and me was their education.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

My 26 years as an enlisted soldier and commissioned army officer, as well as my work as a creditors attorney, give my clients "a sharper edge" if we need it. I continue to improve my legal skills by taking felony criminal cases, preparing for trial, and using these experiences in the Bankruptcy courts.

I recently passed the Florida Bar Examination in order to expand my estate planning practice and retirement options. I also have experience in taking personal injury cases to jury trial and prevailing!

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I first clerked in a firm's bankruptcy department during law school and enjoyed the work. I still do!

What do you like best about your career?

I have been given many blessings including liking what I do for a living. Unlike other areas of practice, bankruptcy work allows me to provide my clients a positive outcome which results in higher client satisfaction.

Tell us about your law firm:

We strive to keep our fees reasonable and provide good customer service. For example, my staff and I strive to return calls within one business day.

What are your strengths and style?

Zealous representation does not usually require aggressive tactics. Clients' goals can be litigated and reached, 99% of the time, with professional courtesy. However, when necessary, we can tap into our infantryman roots and represent our clients in the shadows of the old drill sergeants, in the "the spirit of the bayonet," "Iron Mike" and the like.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy time with the family and my dog. I like to travel. I don't have time to read for pleasure as I read the law daily at work. I try to be active in my church.

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the state agency that licenses lawyers upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any state licensing agency.
