The firm's primary area of practice is California Workers' Compensation and Longshore law. We have been in practice since 1995 and represent injured workers in all phases of their cases.

We have California Certified Specialists in Workers' Compensation who have more than 20 years of experience in Workers' Compensation. We have represented employees from the initial phases of their cases to trial and appeals with the WCAB, Court of Appeals and up to the Supreme Court of California.

Our firm is also very involved with the California Applicants Attorney Association which is the attorney association that is involved in influencing Workers' Compensation Laws in California.

Our organization forges relationships with State Representatives and provides help, support and guidance in the reform or changes to California Workers' Compensation Laws.

Example cases

Berman v. Kaiser - This was a significant case that was published where we prevailed at trial and in subsequent appeals regarding the definition of Labor Code Section 3208.3 regarding what constitutes a lawful, non-discriminatory personnel action.

Becerra v. San Francisco Drydock - Involved an employee who fell to his death. The defendant refused to provide death benefits to his family including his mother that he supported. The case was tried and we prevailed. The case was also appealed where we also prevailed and eventually won for his family the benefits they were entitled to under Federal Law.

I think it is very important. Clients will have a better understanding of the legal process and what it will take to resolve their case.

Romeo R. Uriarte

I've been involved in the Workers' Compensation Field and Longshore Law since 1992 while still in Law School and working for a law firm representing injured workers. After graduating from law school, I continued to work in the same field with another law firm. I eventually became a partner there which became Russo, Uriarte & Carr LLP. That firm eventually became Uriarte & Carr LLP.

My life experiences, law school and internships provides a unique insight and understanding of my clients circumstances. My legal experience has exposed me to the plight of my clients who have difficulty navigating the complexities of the legal system and other social institutions which has provided me a better understanding and compassion of their experiences. Because of this I strive to provide expert representation of my clients and attempt to resolve their cases in a timely manner.

I have extensive experience in representing injured workers from the beginning of their case, to medical evaluations, settlement, trial and appeals. I have represented clients in over a thousand depositions, hundreds of trials and numerous appeals to the Court of Appeals up to the Supreme Court.
