I initially started practicing with James Altman, whose practice was primarily real property, probate, and estate planning. I received my initial training in these areas and have continued over the years.
It is very beneficial to have an informed client if a client educates himself as to legal issues and then asks for confirmation of the understanding from the attorney.
I find that reviewing documents prepared by a client usually is more time consuming and costly than if they request that I prepare documents that I have used in the past.
I will only agree to assist clients in the preparation of pleadings for them to go to small claims court. Any case involving rules of civil procedure I will not assist the client- only in rare circumstances.
From 1971-1977, I practiced with James J. Altman at the law firm of Altman & Waller. Mr. Mitchell graduated from the US Naval Academy and served 20 years in the US Navy as a JAG before Joining Waller & Mitchell in 1989.
My upbringing in a middle class family, having to work my way through school, gave me an appreciation for the benefits of being a professional and understanding of middle class America and dealing with the legal profession.
I believe that the strengths lie in listening to the client, being decisive, and, once undertaking representation, to proceed with the case and see it through to its conclusion.
Personal interests:I successfully completed the Iron Man Triathlon and continue to train to stay in shape in order to enjoy my family and enjoy good health to continue practicing law.
