Firm Focus and History
I began as a sole practitioner in 2007 because I saw the need that many small businesses had for personalized legal services packaged in a size and fee that they could handle.
Previous Employment Summary
I have had the opportunity of working with firms that focus on small business creation and insurance litigation prior to starting my own practice.
What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
Education is the key to any project. I have always found that a well-educated client is a great client. It speeds up the process and allows us to be collectively more efficient.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I have engaged in document review for several clients and am willing to assist them in the process of creating business and immigration documents and forms that fit their needs and comply with the necessary standards.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
Generally speaking, I prefer to engage a client instead of coaching them but I have assisted people through personal representation processes for a fee.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
When I was down in Mexico City helping people out, I was able to observe firsthand the impact that an attorney can have in empowering people to make their lives better. Because of that experience, and the other service experience that I have had, I became motivated to empower others through my legal services.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
Surprisingly enough, I would have to say that compassion has been the most critical personal attribute in my practice. People not only need someone that can get the work product done for them, but they need an attorney that understands them and that they can trust. Also the experience that I have had living in Mexico, as well as having studied international business and commercial law in Spain, has prepared me to understand the needs of international business owners.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
Given my international background in Spain and Mexico, I saw a very natural dual-area practice in business law and immigration. I love the creative elements that you can find in a new business and it is gratifying to empower individuals through the immigration process.
What do you like best about your career?
It is different every day. The types of clients and the projects that I work on vary and are very engaging. Because I am able to help people find success or new opportunities, it is always very rewarding.
Tell us about your law firm:
As a sole practitioner, I have the privilege of working directly with my clients and engaging in the full process with them.
What are your strengths and style?
I love being a hands-on attorney that supports a business in more than just its legal needs. I prefer to keep open communication with my clients so that they can trust that they will be getting the support that they need.
Personal Interests:
I love camping, fishing and the outdoors, reading, watching and participating in almost any sporting event (just ask my wife), and community involvement.
