What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
If it makes a client feel more comfortable and able to accept my assistance, it can be helpful.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I have found it is difficult to provide proper representation to a client who prepares their own documents. Because the documents were not prepared by me, I did not have the opportunity to do my investigation and cannot properly advise the client.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
I would have to answer this question on a case by case basis depending upon the type of matter and the sophistication of the client.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I wanted to make a difference in people's lives, I enjoy the counseling nature of the relationship.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
Over ten years of representing the third largest Area Agency on Aging has exposed me to numerous scenarios in the Elder Law field.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
I met someone in the Elder Care field who impressed upon me the need for attorneys to represent elderly clients.
What do you like best about your career?
I enjoy making a difference in the lives of my clients. Clients come to me stressed out, upset and not knowing what to do about a loved one. They leave with their lives more stable and their goals met.
