My practice is limited to the Defense of Criminal Charges in all Massachusetts Courts (District and Superior) and in all the Federal Courts in Massachusetts and to the handling of criminal related matters (such as sex offender registration, driver's license reinstatement, etc.).
The firm of Lewin & Lewin was established by my father in 1931. In 1975 I took over the firm and since then the firm practice has concentrated in Criminal Defense and handles only criminal related matters.

Self-defense and defense of family were raised and following a jury trial the Marine was acquitted of all the charges. A review of this case can be found on my website.

I enjoy the humanity of the criminal law. I enjoy working with people who find themselves in a jam. I thoroughly enjoy the reward that comes from doing a great job for someone else. I love the criminal courtroom and using the skills I was gifted with.
I like to educate my clients regarding the legal issues in their cases. I spend a considerable amount of time doing this. I give every client a copy of the charges against them and a copy of the criminal statutes they are accused of violating and I explain in detail what it is the state or federal government must prove. All defenses are discussed in detail. I have no objection to a client educating themselves as that can engender a discussion between the client and me about the law of their case and that can be helpful; however, it is my job to make sure that the client knows the law of his/her case and I make sure that they do.
I am always willing to review documents prepared by clients. Strong, open communication between me and the client is essential and always leads to a better result.
I will not do this at all.
In 1971, I was appointed as an Assistant District Attorney in the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office in Massachusetts. I served as an Assistant District Attorney from 1971 to 1975. As an Assistant District Attorney, I prosecuted criminal cases in all the District Courts in Middlesex County as well as in the Superior Court in Middlesex County. As an Assistant D.A., I prosecuted every type of criminal case from serious felonies such as rape and homicide to misdemeanors. In 1975, I left the District Attorney's Office to begin a career in Criminal Defense. My practice is now and for many years has been limited to Criminal Defense.
As a student I studied hard, as an athlete I played hard, and as a lawyer I work hard. I have raised two children and have four grandchildren. I have been active in my community. I have represented over 5,000 clients since 1975; I like to think I know a little about human nature and human frailty. Over the years I have learned what judges and jurors want to hear and what they do not want to hear. I have learned what works and what does not work. I have learned when to speak up and when to shut up. These are lessons that only come from years of experience.
I am always prepared and it shows. I am extremely well-respected by all the judges before whom I appear. I am respected by all the prosecutors in all the courts I go to.
Personal interests:I enjoy the outdoors. I am an avid skier, hiker, and climber.
