We help people get through difficult financial situations. From personal experience we realize that the constant harassment from collection agencies can take a profound toll on a person's feelings of self-worth. We use the provisions of the bankruptcy code to help people get the harassing creditors off their back and provide them with the opportunity to breathe again - with the ultimate goal of giving them a fresh start in their financial lives.
I have been practicing law since 1981, first in Illinois, then, since 1997, in Colorado Springs. I have worked at several law firms in my career but have found that I prefer working as a sole practitioner since it allows me to accept the clients that need the help the most and to determine the best way to help them, without being concerned about the red tape and administrative issues that are often involved in the typical law firm.
I received a call from a disabled veteran who had hired a "Bankruptcy Petition Preparer" (BPP) to prepare his bankruptcy filing for him. The BPP made numerous errors on the paperwork, even leaving two of the required schedules blank, as well as misrepresenting the veteran's situation. The Trustee was threatening to dismiss the bankruptcy unless the paperwork was corrected. We took good care of him, undid all of the "work" done by the BPP, corrected and completed all of the required paperwork, with the result that the client was granted a complete discharge.

Because I am able to make a real difference in the lives of my clients. I get the harassing phone calls to stop. Filing their bankruptcy case is like lifting a great weight off of my clients. They can finally breathe freely again. It's a great feeling for them - and for me.
I appreciate it when clients take the opportunity to become knowledgeable on the areas of law that affect them. A well-educated client can help me help them, often resulting in lower legal fees and better outcomes.
I am happy to meet with potential clients and discuss their situation with them at no charge. I am not willing to review documents that they have prepared on their own. I don't think people untrained in the law should act as their own lawyers. Plus it is usually much more efficient for me to prepare the paperwork for them, since I have done it so many times before.
"A lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client." I don't think people untrained in the law should act as their own lawyers. In addition, our fees for full service representation are extremely reasonable. There really is no good reason for a potential client to become a do-it-yourself attorney.
As an attorney, I have represented people who were hurt on the job or injured as the result of other people's negligence. My most fulfilling cases have come when I was able to help people successfully deal with problems caused by, or made worse by, large corporate bureaucracies.
I grew up in a large family on the South Side of Chicago. I learned how to deal with difficult situations from a young age. I have learned that it is best to not to let the small stuff get to me. And most of it is small stuff.
I am relaxed and non-judgmental. I realize that "stuff happens" and people need to have a way to deal with a difficult financial situation before it becomes overwhelming.
Personal interests:I like to spend time with my wife, my sons, and my friends. I like to hike, cook, ride my bike, and get together with friends. I am a baseball fan - I'm in two fantasy baseball leagues. I love jazz and I like listening to and reading a wide variety of books.
