Continuing Education
Despite the fact that Connecticut does not have a requirement for continuing legal education, I have received training as a mediator at the Center for Mediation in Law. I received Mediation training at Harvard Law School. I received Advanced Negotiation training at Harvard Law School. I also attend seminars presented by the Connecticut Bar Association and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association.
Papers and Publications
I have published over 100 articles on a variety of subjects on personal injury and medical malpractice law covering topics such as: motor vehicle accidents, motorcycle accidents, truck accidents, slip and fall cases, product liability cases, dog bites, insurance law, developing your lost wages claim, getting better medical care, increasing the value of your case, doctor malpractice, hospital malpractice, surgical malpractice, misdiagnosis cases, nursing home malpractice, and medical malpractice cases. These articles have been viewed over 25,000 times.
I have also written the following books: "The Crash Course on Personal Injury Claims in Connecticut", "The Crash Course on Child Injury Claims", "The Crash Course on Motorcycle Accident Claims", and "The Crash Course on Heart Attacks and Cardiac Arrest". I have also written a workbook for each of the four Crash Course Books. These four workbooks are each customized around their specific topics, and are designed to allow the client to be a stronger self-advocate. These workbooks are intended to help the client to communicate with their attorney efficiently by identifying what data the client should compile; suggesting methods for collecting the information, how to organize it, and providing tips for preserving evidence.
Example Cases
The case that immediately comes to mind is a wrongful death case involving a young child. The unimaginable horror which this family faced helped me to view life in a very different light. This case made me a better lawyer and father. Unfortunately, despite the excellent economic result, the fact of the matter is that this family lost a child.
Another case involved a young man who was racing a motorcycle at a drag strip. He signed a waiver and was hit from behind by another racer. We were able to show a number of instances of negligence on the part of the racetrack. Despite the fact that the lawyers for the racetrack argued to the judge that we waived any and all claims for damages because our client signed a comprehensive waiver and release, we were able to obtain over half a million dollars for our client.
