The firm was founded in January of 2000. The firm has centered its services to assisting people and small businesses with resolving difficult debt issues. We do not work in areas outside of our expertise but refer you to attorneys with expertise in such areas. We are well known as a firm that actively fights for its clients and is aggressive in pursuing wrongful actions against creditors.
The firm's primary focus is helping people get a fresh financial start, dealing with financial difficulties and addressing wrongful actions of creditors. We do not work in other areas such as family law, criminal, or divorce matters but focus on financial matters, debt relief and creditor wrongdoings. We can provide referral to attorneys who are board certified and specialists in many other areas. We strive to provide the best service to each of our clients in our areas of expertise. We will pursue actions against creditors for wrongful actions of creditors. We want to help you get financial issues resolved.

We are actively involved in representing our clients and become involved in a significant number of cases on behalf of our clients who have experienced wrongful actions by lenders, creditors and other persons. We have obtained recoveries in cases against mortgage companies and car lenders that are very large compared to national results. You should compare our client representation actions to other attorneys involved in consumer bankruptcy law. Very few attorneys who represent individuals have the involvement and results in cases that we have. While I have worked for a major national law firm in the past and have been involved in many areas, my firm limits its work to areas of financial and debt relief. We are specialists. I am board certified in both consumer and business bankruptcy law. We have relationships with very qualified and well known attorneys to assist in matters where clients have problems outside of our expertise. We believe in providing the highest quality of services to our clients.

Fees
We offer an initial consultation with no money required up front. If you elect not to use our services or you want to retain another attorney, there is no charge for your visit with us.
Our fees are determined on a case by case basis. We are competitive with firms in our area on price. We will work with clients in many cases to make the payment of fees workable for the client.
Attorneys $200 to $400 hour; Paralegals $50 to $125 hour. However, our overall fees are comparative to most firms. Remember, you get what you pay for. An attorney that charges significantly less will probably provide less for his or her fees. Reduced services in the end can result in you paying more to creditors.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?
I got into the practice bankruptcy law to assist people and small businesses.
What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
Our firm provides important information on the process, the actions and results from debt reorganization. We attempt to provide our clients with the resources and information so that our clients can obtain the most benefit from our services. Our clients must also work to complete their cases and take ownership of their cases. Without active involvement from our clients, we cannot have the success that we have had.
Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?
We are willing to review documents from our clients and work with our clients. However, our area requires specialized forms and documents. The documents required must follow the national and local forms and must conform to court requirements. We work with clients every day using information from our clients.
Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
If a client wants to represent themself in a bankruptcy case, they may do so. However, the rules in the Bankruptcy Court do not permit us to assist with forms and other matters in a case unless we are representing the client. People who want to represent themselves in a bankruptcy case may end up paying more to creditors than if they had paid our fees.
Reese W. Baker
Prior to starting Baker & Associates, I worked at a national law firm and then worked as a partner in a business specialties law firm. During that entire time, I was involved in bankruptcy matters. In the large national law firm, I worked on some of the largest bankruptcies in the country.
I meet with clients on almost a daily basis. I also have assisted many people with addressing problems on their homes, jobs and other areas. I worked for over 10 years on projects in the Yucatan in Mexico, building and assisting in running a home for children without parents. I have been involved with projects around the world assisting people in helping them with living conditions and problems. I am a member of the board of directors for a large non-profit radio station in Houston (KSBJ). I am involved the judicial commission for a national church. I have been involved in many organizations in the Houston area that work to improve the life conditions of people. I care about people and their lives.
My strengths are in representing clients in difficult matters. I grew up playing competitive tennis. I played on a varsity tennis team for a national college. I had national rankings during my teenage years. I was one of the top ranked tennis players in my home state. I do not like to lose. My competitive spirit is carried over in my representation of clients. I do not give up.
Personal interests:I enjoy my family. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife and two great children. I enjoy tennis. I enjoy the involvement in my church and am on various boards in charitable organizations. I enjoy life.
