Firm Focus and History
Our firm handles a broad range of employment and labor issues from the perspective of both the employer as well as the employee. We litigate the entire spectrum of employment-based claims, such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, unfair wage and hour, employment contract disputes, and restrictive covenants. We also litigate issues related to union collective bargaining, union elections and formation, unfair labor practices, lock-outs, picketing and strikes. By taking on claims from both sides of the aisle, our firm is instinctively tuned to the complexities and nuances of the law governing the workplace.
I have been practicing law for over forty years, dedicating the majority of my career to the specialty of employment and labor law. After many years in private practice, I formed the firm of Paul I. Weiner, Esq. LLC in 2008. In May 2009, my son Josh joined me to form the Law Offices of Weiner & Weiner LLC, the new name reflecting the father-son tandem.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
An educated client is most important. We spend a great deal of time preparing and educating our clients on the law and legal processes and counseling them through the various financial emotional issues that invariably arise during the scope of our representation.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
We prefer clients to keep all records and documentation, especially letters and other correspondence, so that we are in a better position to evaluate your claim and analyze it accordingly.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
We have coached and consulted clients in the past who could not afford representation for litigation and trial. While we strongly encourage clients not to go at it alone, we are respectful of the client's right to make their own decisions.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I decided during law school I wanted to work in labor and employment law. At our firm, we spend a great deal of our time working and providing legal assistance to both employers, counseling them on how to better improve the employee-employer dynamic, avoid and resolve internal disputes and litigate all employment based legal claims.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
I was a Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA) or the Domestic Peace Corps. I worked as a VISTA lawyer assisting minorities and low income individuals. I am also a frequent lecturer and presenter for the Practicing Law Institute on labor and employment matters.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
I recognized from a young age that the American economy is centered on the relationship between employees and their employers. I wanted to be a part of that dynamic.
What do you like best about your career?
I get a great deal of satisfaction in helping employers and employees deal with the complex legal problems that face them in our diversified economy. These situations can be very emotional, personal and costly. When we assist individuals and businesses they are grateful on a professional level, but many times we builder and foster relationships on a personal level. We always love to get to know our clients personally and stay in touch well after our representation has concluded.
