What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Knowledge is power and being informed is not a bad thing.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

I am willing to review documents that are self-prepared.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Due to the complexity of bankruptcy law (statutes, forms, procedures), it is not something that someone should do without a competent individual. An attorney can make a significant difference.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

I know it sounds cliché, but I wanted to help people.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

As a child, my father was in the Army and met and married a woman from Germany. I grew up moving every three years. This exposed me to a wide range of cultural experiences and different backgrounds. I've lived in Virginia, Indiana, Texas, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, and Germany before moving to Minnesota for college. I feel that I've learned to treat everyone with respect and dignity.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

When I started practicing law I worked at a small law firm doing primarily family law. It seemed that many of my clients need financial help. I started advising in the area of bankruptcy law. When the new law changed, I started practicing full time in bankruptcy.

What do you like best about your career?

I love being my own boss.

Tell us about your law firm:

I have two great certified paralegals who are knowledgeable and who are attentive to all of my clients' immediate needs.

What are your strengths and style?

I'm relaxed, easygoing and down-to-earth person. My clients feel at ease with me.

Personal Interests:

I love watching movies. I am huge Minnesota Wild fan!!

Understanding Fees

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the state agency that licenses lawyers upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any state licensing agency.
