Example Cases
• Misdemeanor shoplifting. Outcome: The prosecutor gave my client a generous plea bargain. The client's goal was to avoid trial and resolve the case so that the sentencing would not result in jail time.
• Disability insurance appeal of denial of payments for continued benefits. Outcome: The insurance company reversed their decision and had to pay retroactive benefits for the time my client did not receive any monthly payments and extended benefits for two more years.

Firm Focus and History
Our focus is criminal defense and estate planning of small civil matters.
The firm was opened in May 2008 in the city of Marrieta, CA. I am a solo practitioner. This means that you will have direct access to an attorney at all times. I will personally work on your case as opposed to a paralegal or legal assistant.
Previous Employment Summary
I was a contract attorney for a solo practitioner in downtown San Diego whose practices included both civil and criminal matters.
Activities and Awards
I received Wiley W. Manuel Award for 50 hours of pro bono work through the California Innocence Project located at California Western School of Law.
What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
I think it's great that clients will take the time to educate themselves on legal issues. It makes them more aware of the possible issues and consequences that may arise due to their current legal situation.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I am not willing to review documents for criminal law matters.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
In criminal law, I would not encourage clients to represent themselves. I firmly believe clients should be represented by a private attorney, or if cost is an issue, be represented by a public defender.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I became an attorney to help others who don't have the knowledge to competently represent their legal needs and protect their constitutional rights.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
I was an intern for the San Diego Superior Court as a Pre-Trial Services Intern and Deputy Clerk. I have volunteered at the Legal Aid Society, worked for a family and immigration solo practitioner, worked at a small construction defect firm, was an intern with the Alternate Public Defenders office in Vista, CA, of which, the department dealt with serious felony cases.
My major in college was sociology with a minor in criminal justice at the CSU - San Marcos. I received my law degree from California Western School of Law. My school's mission is "Creating creative problem-solvers," with a focus on having students graduate with practical knowledge of law to then acquire the trial skills necessary to become a better attorney for one's clients.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
Criminal defense is challenging and an exciting area of law to practice. I wanted to help people who are in jeopardy of losing their liberty and to mitigate the seriousness of their situation.
What do you like best about your career?
You are always learning something new everyday. I like being able to help people who are in very stressful situations. I am an advocate for people who desperately need help and guidance through the Criminal Justice System after a loved one has been arrested.
Tell us about your law firm:
I am a solo practitioner, so I provide direct client contact with personalized, professional legal representation. I work with another experienced, well respected criminal defense attorney within the community for complex felony cases.
What are your strengths and style?
I have great negotiation skills and the ability to settle matters before they become bigger problems. I am also a great listener and want my clients to be able to tell me anything.
Personal Interests:
I love to read, sing, and spend time with my family and dog.
