I started practicing in 1989 and have focused primarily on issues relative to families. I have for the past 16+ years worked either part time or full time under contact with the Butte County Superior Court doing Juvenile Dependency and Delinquency Law, some criminal law and DA Child Support matters. I have also done divorce and custody matters, bankruptcy, wills, trusts, probates, guardianships, conservatorships, adoptions and other related matters.
Competent legal representation with a compassionate, respectful approach.
• I instituted an action on behalf of an heir against an attorney for improperly obtaining title to a property. The action resulted in the attorney giving up her license to practice law.
• I have done extensive trial work in the area of Juvenile Dependency Law focused on reunifying children with their parents and families.

I have handled many different types of cases over the years, and I have knowledge in many different areas of law. I have greatly enjoyed my years doing juvenile dependency law. It has not been an easy area of law to work in, but I believe my work to be a contribution to the betterment of our society, which is why I have continued in this area. I have learned a lot about people and gained a wealth of knowledge and skill in managing large caseloads and dealing with heavy trial and court calendars. I like the diversity of handling cases in a variety of areas.
I believe that it is very important for clients to educate themselves on legal issues.
I generally do not have a problem reviewing documents prepared by clients. However, I have found that oftentimes it is just as costly to have it prepared by the attorney as to have it reviewed if the client wants it to more completely address the issues.
I am generally willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves. But I do not recommend them doing so if they are dealing with complex legal issues and if the opposing party is represented by counsel.
Prior to becoming a lawyer I worked as a paralegal for approximately eight years. Prior to that, I worked as a legal secretary.
I worked in several law firms in various capacities prior to becoming a lawyer. That broadened my horizons and allowed me to start my career as a lawyer with many skills and knowledge under my belt. I have always prided myself in not being your everyday lawyer. People are oftentimes very frightened of having to see a lawyer. I have respect and dignity for people and want them to feel that they are a part of the process so that they feel comfortable with me handling their legal problem and working together for the best possible solution. I do not make promises about outcomes. I am very realistic with my clients.
I have a very calm, approachable and non-intimidating style.
