Continuing Education
I attend continuing legal education courses and trial colleges on various personal injury topics, including car and truck accidents, wrongful death cases, and product liability claims.
Example Cases
I recently represented a client who was severely injured when a defective product exploded in his face. As a result of this explosion, my client lost an eye and suffered numerous facial fractures. Further, he had to undergo numerous operations to repair his injuries and will continue to suffer for the rest of his life. Sadly, the product manufacturer used an inferior piece on its product from overseas in an effort to save money. This was a classic case of a large corporation putting profits over safety. The case was settled for a confidential amount.
Anderson v. Scott - Circuit Court of Madison County, Alabama - I represented Mr. Anderson in this car accident case. Mr. Anderson was traveling down a main roadway when the defendant pulled out of a side street causing a severe impact. As a result of this wreck Mr. Anderson suffered a severely fractured wrist which required two surgeries and an injured knee which required surgery. Following depositions of the parties and doctor we were able to resolve this matter at mediation prior to trial. The case was resolved at mediation for $170,000.

Martinson & Beason, P.C. has been representing personal injury and car accident victims since 1937. We are one of the oldest law firms in North Alabama. We pride ourselves on client service and getting the best possible result for our client.
Previous Employment Summary
I have previously worked for five years as an attorney for Bohanan & Belt, P.C. and Belt Law Firm, PC in Birmingham, Alabama. During that time I concentrated on handling serious personal injury cases, car and truck wreck cases as well as fraud and breach of contract cases.
Activities and Awards
I am BV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating I can receive for an attorney practicing less than 10 years. I also have an Excellent Rating from AVVO.
What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
I truly believe that the more informed you are the better equipped you are to handle any situation. We always make it a point to explain the entire legal process to our clients. It is the client's case and they should always be well-informed and understand all aspects of their case. In today's world there are numerous legal resources available to people especially on the internet and I would strongly encourage people to educate themselves whenever they have a potential legal matter.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
We are always willing to speak with our clients and others in need of legal services. Often this includes reviewing documents and other legal paper work.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
Not all cases require an attorney. In instances where I am contacted by someone with a legal claim and I do not feel they need my services I am always willing to try to point them in the right direction and provide them with some type of explanation of what legal steps they may need to take.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
Growing up, my mother worked as a judicial assistant for a State District Court Judge so I grew up around the courthouse. I've always been interested in the law and politics and so becoming a lawyer was a great fit for my personality.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
I am a very competitive person and grew up playing sports. I played high school and college football and I think the lessons I learned on and off the field help to make me a better lawyer. Hard work, dedication and passion are all traits that make a great football player and lawyer. I did not like to lose on the field and I do not like to lose in the courtroom.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
I have a passion for helping others and making a difference. By representing injury victims and their families I can help others who are going through an extremely rough and scary time in their life by helping them put the pieces back together.
What do you like best about your career?
That smile or thank you that you get when you are able to tell your client you have gotten their case resolved and now they will be able to begin the healing process and start putting their life back on track.
Tell us about your law firm:
We have seven attorneys and eight support staff at our office. Our firm is large enough to have all of the resources and means to meet all the needs of our clients, but we are small enough that our clients receive the one on one attention their case needs and deserves. At Martinson & Beason, P.C., client satisfaction is our number one goal.
What are your strengths and style?
I believe my organization skills, hard work ethic and determination to get the best possible result for my client sets me apart from other personal injury attorneys.
