Firm Focus and History

Our firm was established in April of 1990 and for more than 20 years has been fighting for the rights of the criminally accused. Our job is to competently represent the accused in court regardless of the crime alleged. We will fight to preserve your rights, protect your interests and make sure you get your fair day in court. Our goals include preparing your defense, aggressively challenging the government's evidence and seeking to secure the most favorable outcome of your case.

Previous Employment Summary

Prior to going into private practice, I worked as an Assistant State Attorney (1988 to 1990) with the State Attorney's Office in Fort Myers.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

It is essential for our clients to educate themselves about the legal process in general and their particular criminal case. The better informed our client is, the more likely that they will not have a similar legal problem in the future.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

In order to better represent our client's interests, we always seek to learn as much about them and their circumstances as possible. To that end, we encourage our clients to share with us as much information as possible.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

We rarely, if ever, recommend that a client represent themselves in court. The legal process, rules of procedure, and evidence code are difficult to understand and master. Individuals without formal legal training will often find themselves at a disadvantage when proceeding pro se. Nonetheless, we can and will attempt to educate as well as inform them as best we can should they still seek to take that approach.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

When I was a teenager I became very interested in the law and jury trials by watching television shows like Perry Mason. I developed such a great appreciation for the law/courtroom drama that I decided to go to law school and become a trial lawyer.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

Getting involved in my community (legal and non-legal) gave me a better sense of the human condition, which is essential to becoming a great lawyer.

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

I enjoyed criminal law because it deals with fundamental liberty and justice, more so than any other area of practice.

What do you like best about your career?

Helping people deal with and resolve their legal problems.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am a solo practitioner, so all of my clients deal directly with me. I also have a wonderful and very capable legal assistant, who has been with me for more than 17 years.

What are your strengths and style?

I consider myself very personable and loyal to your defense.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy music, movies, sports, and travel.

Understanding Fees

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the state agency that licenses lawyers upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any state licensing agency.
