Firm History

Shean Law was established in 1990 by John Shean; Shean Law consists of John Shean and Michael Scarton.

MICHAEL SCARTON:
Prior to joining Shean Law Offices in 2007, MichaelI spent six and a half years working as a deputy prosecuting attorney for Monroe County. As a prosecutor, he gained extensive experience dealing with the Monroe County Courts, court personnel, and the criminal justice system in general. He understands how prosecutors evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of cases. He is now using his experience and knowledge of the criminal justice system to represent our clients who have been charged with a crime.

Example Cases

Young v. Marling, 900 N.E.2d 30 (Ind. App. 2009). The Indiana Court of Appeals agreed with our client that the attending physician designates appropriate medical care for injured employees in the worker's compensation system.

In another case, we recovered a large settlement for a letter carrier who suffered a closed-head injury when his vehicle was rear-ended by a negligent motorist.

The vast majority of cases are resolved through mediation and/or settlement negotiations.

Yes. We serve as pro bono counsel for Real Life Media, Backstreet Missions, and the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Bloomington.
