What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
A knowledgeable client can be a lawyer's best partner in advocating the client's best interests.
Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?
I am willing to review documents brought in by our clients.
Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
I do not believe a person should represent him or herself, even if said person is a lawyer.
Why did you decide to be a lawyer?
I found the law to be fascinating from a young age. As I grew up, I found myself more and more drawn to the law, and its function as the great equalizer.
What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?
My ability to put myself in my client's shoes, and to try to see each problem from his or her perspective, makes me a passionate advocate for the client's interests.
Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?
People that have been injured through the negligence of others may often feel they have the deck stacked against them. On top of their physical injuries and pain, they must deal with unresponsive and often hostile insurance companies and their adjustors, whose interests are almost always directly adverse to the injured person's. It is my supreme pleasure to help injured people navigate this complicated maze. I pride myself in simplifying the process, and relieving as much of the client's burden as possible. This type of hands on approach not only helps reduces our client's anxiety during the process, and educates them on the process, from insurance claim, to settlement, and if need be trial; but also helps the client obtain the fairest monetary recovery.
What do you like best about your career?
I take great pride in helping injured people get back on their feet, and when necessary, fight the insurance companies which delay or deny fair compensation.
Tell us about your law firm:
All of the attorneys in our firm have vast experience with personal injury law. In addition to personal injury, the attorneys at Elliott, Anderson, Riquelme and Wilson, LLP also practice in other areas of the law (each attorney has other specialties) personal injury clients often have need for attorneys with additional skills; when this need arises our team approach to legal problem solving can be an invaluable resource to the client.
What are your strengths and style?
I am aggressive in pursuing my client's interests. Whether that means making sure my client's medical bills are paid by the insurance companies in a timely manner, or obtaining a fair compensation for injuries at settlement or trial.
Personal Interests:
In addition to the law, I practice snowboarding, wakeboarding, golf, bicycling, fishing, and many other of the recreational activities abundant in Central Oregon.
