California Law Office, P.C. was established by attorney Kirk Brennan in early 2010 to provide personal, confidential, and caring service to clients in need of bankruptcy assistance. Mr. Brennan felt that a small practice could best serve individuals and businesses in financial distress. He prides himself on getting to know his clients well and believes this leads to the best results.

Previous Employment Summary

Kirk Brennan, esq. ran a small business for eight years prior to pursuing his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and then law degree.

What is your opinion regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?

Many resources are available online for clients to educate themselves about the bankruptcy process. Nonetheless, there is also a lot of inaccurate information out there, so I encourage clients to ask questions about the bankruptcy process. My goal is to answer questions as clearly and as effectively as possible, cutting through the legal mumbo-jumbo as much as possible.

Are you willing to review documents prepared by clients?

The bankruptcy process is difficult to navigate due to myriad requirements, both substantive and procedural. That is why an attorney's guidance is so essential.

Are you willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?

Most clients wisely choose to hire an attorney to represent them through the bankruptcy process.

Why did you decide to be a lawyer?

Ideally a lawyer is not only technically proficient at his craft, but also a good people-person, who can counsel a client based on his or her situation. My goal is to leave clients satisfied that they understand the bankruptcy process, and satisfied that I have represented them well through the process.

What work experience and education helps you be a better lawyer?

My eight years running a small business brought me in close contact with people from many different backgrounds. My representation is strengthened by this experience, and by my legal and business education. See my website for more information: http://www.californialawofficepc.com

Why did you decide on your primary area of practice?

Bankruptcy law offers many rewards, including enough complexity to be interesting, and the potential to change lives for the better. It is very satisfying to see the burden of a heavy debt load lifted from the shoulders of my clients. It is also satisfying to see abusive creditors brought to heel by the bankruptcy system.

What do you like best about your career?

I like making clients happy by relieving their debt burden, thereby allowing them to start fresh.

Tell us about your law firm:

I am a solo practitioner so all of my clients deal directly with me.

What are your strengths and style?

I am direct, honest and knowledgeable. My style is to explain what needs to be done and to make the bankruptcy process as smooth and quick as possible for clients.

Personal Interests:

I enjoy my family, swimming and scuba diving.

Understanding Fees

Nolo's Licensing Check

Attorneys have passed a licensing check. Nolo has confirmed that every member attorney has a valid license and is in good standing with the state agency that licenses lawyers upon joining the directory.

Directory lawyers are required to notify Nolo immediately if they become the subject of any disciplinary action by any state licensing agency.
