The Washington D.C. bankruptcy law firm of Kevin D. Judd was established in 1994 to provide the citizens of the Washington, D.C. and Maryland areas with quality consumer bankruptcy services at fair and reasonable prices.
A client, who was going through the loan modification process trial period, was unexpectedly denied at the end. The mortgage company initiated foreclosure proceedings. I was able to file a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy and put them into a repayment plan where they paid their arrearages through the bankruptcy court. They were able to keep their house. Sometimes bankruptcy is the best solution.

How did your firm decide on the primary area of practice(s)?
When people are in debt they feel like they are in financial bondage. Successfully completing a bankruptcy action provides them with financial freedom. I like to be able to free people up so they can lead a better life.
What is your firm's point of view regarding clients educating themselves on legal issues?
I think it's a good idea. When an educated client comes to see me, their expectations are in the right place. It's easier to deal with potential clients and vice versa.
Is your firm willing to review documents prepared by clients?
Yes. I will review documents only if I am representing a client.
Is your firm willing to coach clients who want to represent themselves?
It's not a good idea. If something goes wrong, I am on the hook. There is just too much liability.

Right out of law school I did employment law, personal injury, and probate with a firm. Through the National Bar I got involved in bankruptcy and have done it extensively ever since.
Attending and serving on boards of Bar Associations makes me a better lawyer. It provides me with great networking and educational opportunities. It keeps me current with changes in the law, and helps me serve my clients better.
I am very reassuring to my clients and I don't judge them. My goal is to get them through the process and on with their lives. I have very good analytical and managerial skills. My experience working on the boards of professional organizations gives me great resources and confidence.
